Welcome to Lessons From Room 110, a space dedicated to the art, challenges, and triumphs of teaching. Whether you are a seasoned educator , a fresh face in the field, or someone exploring the world of education from a different angle, I’m thrilled to have you here.
As I stand on the cusp of retirement after a fulfilling career in education, I’ve been reflecting on the incredible journey I’ve had – the ups, the downs, and everything in between. This blog is my way of paying it forward, sharing lessons learned, and providing support for the next generation of teachers.
Why this blog?
Teaching is more than a profession; it’s a calling that requires passion, patience, dedication, and an unyielding commitment to the growth and well-being of others. Over the years, I’ve witnessed the transformative power of education and have experience the profound impact a dedicated teacher can have on the lives of students.
This blog is a labor of love, born out of a desire to create a space where educators, both new and experienced, can come together to share insights, learn from one another, and find inspiration for this noble journey that is teaching.
What to Expect
In the coming posts, we’ll explore myriad topics – from practical tips for classroom management to navigating the emotional landscape of teaching. We’ll delve into the evolving landscape of education, discussing trends, innovations and strategies for staying ahead in a field that is ever-changing. We’ll also have some laughs because there is no way to survive this job without finding humor everywhere we can.
A Journey Shared
Teaching is a journey that no one should (or can) navigate alone. I invite you to join me on this adventure as we explore the joys and hurdles of education, celebrate the victories, and support one another throughout the inevitable challenges. Whether you are a new teacher seeking guidance, a veteran looking for fresh perspectives, or someone passionate about education from afar, there’s a place for you here. Together, we will create a space where the collective wisdom of educators can thrive, making a positive impact on the future of education.
An Addendum
You might have picked up on the title of this first post, indicating that this is a second try at this blog. I first attempted to write this for new teachers, giving them insights and tips into how to handle all of the individual situations that occur in the course of our days. This was in the beginning of 2020. Suddenly, the way we had always dealt with issues was turned upside down and the old advice no longer applied. The school experience was now completely foreign to me and honestly hadn’t returned to something resembling normal until this year. So, I’ll give this another go and add my two cents (and 28+ years) to the world of educational blogging.
So buckle up, fellow educators – we are embarking on a journey through the crazy world of education, and I’m excited to have you by my side.
Warm regards,
Kristin, who has taught and learned many a lesson in Room 110
